SENEGALESE SECURITY CHIEFS ON WORKING VISIT TO THE GAMBIA

STRENGTHENING SECURITY COOPERATIONS

The month of July witnessed a surge of high military dignitary visits to The Gambia. The Chief of Defence Staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces Lieutenant General Sheikh Gueye came on a three day working visit to his Gambian counterpart Lieutenant General Masanneh N Kinteh.

General Gueye arrived in The Gambia on Tuesday 25 July 2017 and paid a courtesy call on General Kinteh at the Gambia Armed Force Defence Headquarters in Banjul. After hours of discussions, the two Chiefs spoke to the media on some of the areas discussed. General Gueye noted that the visit was aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two sisterly countries. He stressed that the security of the two countries is very paramount hence they will engage in collaborative efforts in areas of exchange of ideas and visits while noting that the soldiers will learn from each other.
General Kinteh on his part expressed gratitude over the visit noting he initiated the visit in April when he visited Senegal. He said the visit was a positive one and will further strengthen the cooperation in the area of information sharing between the two forces.
As part of his engagements, General Gueye and his delegation paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Adama Barrow at the Presidency.
