National

The Gambia Armed Forces Company Number Twenty (GAMCOY 20) in Darfur, Sudan has completed her one-year tour of duty and is expected to rotate on Saturday 24 March 2018. Consequently, a farewell parade for Company Number twenty-one (GAMCOY 21) which is expected to replace the former will be held on Tuesday 20 March 2018 at the McCarthy Square in Banjul at 0900 Hours. The event will be graced by the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency Adama Barrow.

The Farewell will be in the form of a military parade of troops set to deploy as part of the United Nations/ African Union Hybrid Mission in Darfur for a period of one year to bring peace and security to the war-torn region of Sudan. The Contingent consists of a total of 208 personnel and will hopefully leave the shores of The Gambia on Saturday 24 March 2018.

The occasion, to be led by our Commander-In-Chief is therefore an avenue for Gambians and non-Gambians alike to pray for the Allah’s guidance and protection to our gallant officers, men and women in uniform.
