GAF CDS COMPLETES HIS NATIONWIDE TOUR OF MILITARY INSTALLATIONS

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gambia Armed Forces Lieutenant General Masanneh N Kinteh on Friday 28 December 2018 ended his nationwide tour to Military installations at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in Banjul.

Speaking at the gathering, the Chief Of Operation Maj General Saikou Seckan thanked the CDS for successfully completing a very tedious tour to respective military deployments. “It is indeed a pleasure to have you as the CDS of GAF, due to your competence and dynamic leadership you endeavored to meet your troops throughout the country” said Maj General S Seckan. He added that the GAF is yearning to achieving her dreams in transforming to a higher professional and well-motivated Armed Forces and with the proper leadership the sky is the limit.

The Commander Gambia National Army Maj General Mamat O Cham highlighted the importance of a headquarters in any department or institution. He said GAF headquarters is the backbone and brain of the military where command and directives originate from and filtered to other units. The CDS can succeed if he has the support from officers and men with undoubted loyalty said the Army Commander.

Amongst the delegation included the Permanent Secretary (PS) Ministry of Defence Dr Chorno Barry who thanked the CDS and delegation for taking a giant step in  meeting the troops throughout the Country to know their living and working conditions. He expressed his appreciation to be part of the gathering to enable him know the challenges and together look for a way forward to overcome those challenges. He said that the Commander in Chief of GAF President Adama Barrow is very pleased with the role GAF plays in maintaining peace and stability of our beloved country the Gambia.

CDS GAF made a short remark by thanking all his delegation for their commitment throughout the tour.  “Although it was hectic but we were able to complete it in peace” he stated. He urged the soldiers to remain loyal to the Commander in Chief and the people of the Gambia  and do away with political gossips.  He added that “the year 2019 is the year of transformation and we are going to work the talk” he reaffirmed.
