Adjutant General GAF

BRIGARDIER GENERAL Ramatulia DK Sanneh was born at Busura village in West Coast Region on the 21 August 1970.She attended Busura Primary School in the same village from 1978 to 1984 and proceeded to Banjul Secondary Technical School (BSTS) from 1985 to 1989 and obtained a Secondary School Learning Certificate. With courage strength and determination, she went to GTTI to further her education.

Ramatulia DK Sanneh was enlisted into GAF on 01 January 1995. After her Basic Military Training, she was posted at Defence Headquarters. She was commissioned in 2006 and rose through the ranks from Captain up to Brigadier General.

Ramatulie was appointed Director of Records from May 2006 Nov 2009.Deputy Inspected General, GAF from December 2009 to 2011 when she was appointed adjutant general.

She attended the following courses in different field: President Award Scheme from 1992 to 1994, Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI) FROM 1997 to 1998, Foumi informatics institute of computer technology (FIICT) in July 1990, Management development institute (MDI) from March to Nov 2003. She also attended the ECOWAS  National Gender and Development Training work shop from 10 to 13 Apr 2013.

Ramatulia DK Sanneh obtained a Diploma in gender and development, Certificate on Information and Technology, Advance diploma in English (ESOL) English for other languages and type writing. She is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma at (MDI) from March to November 2018.

Ramatulia DK Sanneh in quest for more Knowledge also attended the generation of African Military Leadership Course in Washington DC (USA) from 26 january to  February 2009. Implementation of UN programmed of action on Small arms and light weapon for sub region in AFRICA in Nairobi, Kenya from 14 to 15 August 2012. The 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of women in New York (USA) in 2015.

Managing Defence in the Wider Security Context (MDWSC) course held at Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana Accra from 11 to 22 July 2016.

Ramatulie DK Sanneh served in the protection force Africa Union Mission in Darfur (AMIS) Sudan in 2005 and military observer under (Africa Union Mission in Darfur) Sudan from 02 December 2006 to December 2007.

She was decorated with United Nation Medals and the Distinguished National Order of the Republic of the Gambia (MRG) for her commitment, loyalty, hard work, dedication to duty and above all discipline. She is down to earth being the first female gender in the Gambia Armed Forces.

Her responsibilities as Adjutant General  GAF is to keep soldiers with task that affected their overall welfare and well-being and also assist commanders in making soldiers combat ready in terms of marriages, health related matters, gender issues and enforcement of discipline etc.

Ramatulie DK Sanneh is happily married and blessed with children and her hobbies are. Reading, Watching TV and taking care of the family.
