THE GAMBIAN CIVILIAN POLICE TEAM VISITS GAMCOY 21 IN DARFUR

The Gambian Civilian Police (CIVPOL) Contingent to Darfur, headed by Commissioner Ebrima Mboob paid a courtesy call on the Contingent Commander (Contico) of the Gambian Contingent number 21 (GAMCOY 21) Lieutenant Colonel Abdoulie Manneh at the Smiling Coast Camp in El-Fasher, Darfur, Sudan on Friday 29 March 2018. The team also bade farewell to the outgoing Contingent (GAMCOY 20) and its Commander in an atmosphere characterized as unique in the mission area.

The Outgoing Contico Lieutenant Colonel Musa Trawalleh, welcomed the Gambian Police Contingent at the GAMCOY “Bantaba”. He expressed his appreciation for the cordial working relationship he had with the CIVPOL Contingent and also expressed hope that the same spirit will continue with GAMCOY 21.

The CIVPOL Contico, Commissioner Mboob welcomed GAMCOY 21 to Darfur and expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship that existed between the Gambian Police and Military Contingents. He stated that the relationship is unique and symbolic in the mission area, as most countries do not have such a relationship. However, he reasoned that this relationship had been planted and nurtured from The Gambia, where the inter-service cooperation is second to none.

The Contico of GAMCOY 21, Lt Col Abdoulie Manneh, expressed happiness for the existence of the cordial working relationship and mutual assistance that had been laid between the two. He promised that he will make sure the same spirit of One Gambia, One people is maintained. He stated that The Gambian flag is our unifying symbol and we are all bound to keep it flying higher.

 

Other speakers included the GAMCOY 20 Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) Colonel Dr. Alkali Conteh, Deputy CIVPOL Contico Modou Jobe and also the Second in Command GAMCOY 21, Major Abdoulie Mboob.
