Chief Of Defence Staff Bids Farewell To Gambia Armed Forces Football Club

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Masanneh Kinteh bid farewell to members of the Gambia Armed Forces Football Club (GAF FC) at a ceremony held at the Defence Headquarters on Tuesday 6 February 2018. The Football Club is to represent The Gambia at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Championship for its first encounter with Zanaco Football Club of Zambia on Saturday 10 February 2018.

In his farewell remarks, the CDS congratulated the team for qualifying and representing not only GAF but The Gambia at the CAF Championship. He went further to extend greetings and best wishes of His Excellency President Adama Barrow who is the Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces to the members of the teams. General Kinteh exhorted the players to be worthy ambassadors of the country while promising them of a hero’s welcome upon their return with a deserving win over their Zambian opponents.

The ceremony which was attended by senior officers of the team as well as representatives from the Gambia Football Federation ended with a flag handing-over ceremony by the Chief of Defence Staff to the team Captain, Baboucarr Ceesay.
