GAMBIA CONTINGENTS SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCT UNAMID TOUR ROTATION.

Gamcoy 22 yesterday 9 April took over mission duties from their Gambian counterpart in Darfur. The Contingent took-off from the  Gambia at 0600hrs Tuesday morning to safely arrived in El-fasher where they relieved Gamcoy 21 of the various responsibilities the Gambia Contingent is assigned in the United Nation African Mission in Darfur (UNAMID). Subsequently Gamcoy 21 departed from El-fasher to arrive safely at the Banjul International Airport on the same day at 2100hrs.

At both the departure (Gamcoy 22) and arrival (Gamcoy 21) ceremonies held at the foot of the airplane at the Airport for the respective Gamcoys, the Army Commander General Mamat O Cham deputized for the CDS in bidding farewell and welcoming of the troops. Also present at the ceremonies were Senior Officers of the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
The returning gallant men and women of  Gamcoy 21 later today 10 April converged at the Yundum Barrack Campus where they were welcomed and debriefed by the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff; Major General Yakuba Drammeh who was accompanied by Senior Officers of the DHQ.

At the end of the debrief the troops were given 2 weeks leave.
