The Gambia Armed Forces Football Club (GAF FC) on Tuesday 20 February 2018 benefited from a donation of sports wares in the form of jerseys from one Mr. Mustapha Ammad, a Moroccan businessman and philanthropist. The donation is the second by the Moroccan to the Khaki boys as they prepare for the return leg of their encounter with Zanaco Football club of Zambia in the Confederation of African Football Championship (CAF).
In receiving the donated items, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Masanneh Kinteh expressed gratitude for the donation while thanking Mr. Ammad for keeping a promise he made the last time he donated similar items during the departure of the GAF FC to Zambia. He told the donor that he is overwhelmed with joy and encouraged Mr. Ammad to see himself as a genuine partner of the Gambia Armed Forces. General Kinteh went further to assure the donor of GAF’s commitment to support and partner with him while commending him for his generosity. He also assured Mr. Ammad that despite losing to Zanaco in the first leg, the Gambia Armed Forces will mobilize resources to ensure that the GAF Football Club puts up a respectable performance for the good of the game. He concluded by thanking and commending the Board of Directors of the GAF FC for the hard work and collaborating with Mr. Ammad.
For his part, Mr. Mustapha Ammad thanked the Chief of Defence Staff for receiving him and expressed his commitment to be associated with the success of the GAF Football Club. He indicated his readiness to partner with the Gambia Armed Forces and assured the Chief of Defence Staff of his support and readiness to help GAF in all her endeavors especially in the area of sports.
Brigadier General Alhajie Martin, President of the GAF FC for his part introduced Mr. Baboucarr Mbye Gaye, Protocol Officer of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) to the CDS noting that Mr. Gaye has been very instrumental in most of the successes registered by the GAF Football Club.
In another development, Mr. Mustapha Ammad also presented sport jerseys and tracksuits to the Chief of Defence Staff and all the General Officers of the Gambia Armed Forces.
Meanwhile Zanaco Football Club arrived at the Banjul International Airport on Tuesday 20 February 2018 at 1830 Hours and was received by the Board of Directors of the GAF FC and officials of the GFF. They are in the country for the second leg of their CAF encounter against the Gambia Armed Forces Football Club at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Saturday 24 February 2018 at 1630 Hours.
