Officers/Soldiers of Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) posted in the provinces who had their Transport Allowances deducted will get back their dues in full.
This anomaly occurred due to the implementation of the General Order by the Gambian Government which stipulated that, all under government posted in the provinces are entitled to provincial allowance whereas those in the urban are entitled to transport allowance.
However the GAF Terms and Condition of Services states that transport allowance should be paid to Officers/Soldiers where ever they may be posted. These Terms and Conditions are an Act of Parliament and thus when brought to the attention of the Ministry of Finance, it automatically understood the law and has begun the process of restoring the said allowances.
