The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General Masanneh N Kinteh on Monday 01 October 2018 began his first leg of a country wide tour to all military deployments.
Speaking at a briefing before his departure, the CDS informed the gathering that His Excellency the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Gambia Armed Forces Mr Adama Barrow has blessed this important tour which will serve as an interface between the High Command and serving members at all unit levels.
CDS Kinteh outlined the many objectives of the tour amongst which includes a follow up on the directives that were given to the Battalion Commanding Officers during the 2017 tour, and as well interact with the civilian population and the local community leaders. The tour will also avail the CDS to meet with the ECOMIG troops in order to know their operational challenges and achievements.
The entourage with the CDS comprises of Directors from the Defence Headquarters and a host of other key appointment holders from within the Armed Forces and Ministry of Defence.
