Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall will arrive in Banjul today for a three days visit. The Royal Highnesses will be welcomed in an official ceremony at the McCarthy square in Banjul. A Parade will be mounted by members of the Gambia Armed Forces as part of the highlights of the event.
The Royal Highnesses will also visit the Gambia Armed Forces training School as part of their itinerary. At the Gambia Armed Forces Training School they will interact with troops who are earmarked for peacekeeping. It could be recalled that the British Military Training Team (BMATT) has been very instrumental for the professional development of the Gambia Armed Forces. The BMATT through the Royal Gibraltar Regiment continues to provide pre-deployment training for our troops.
