As part of the ongoing Officer’s Promotional Exams, the Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (DCDS) Major General Yakuba Drammeh alongside Service Chiefs and representative of the Ministry of Defence Mr. Alagie Bah meet potential officers due for promotion through a convergence at the Joint Officers Mess on 07th January 2019.
During the muster, the DCDS remarked that “peace without security is not sustainable… if we aspire to advance this country, we cannot do it without peace and security”, he added. He also said members of the armed forces are tasked with ensuring security and therefore; amongst other things, promotion henceforth is merit based and not business as usual.
The convergence marked the second phase of the promotional procedures and at this stage, the officers will engage on individual presentations so as to assess their knowledge of subjects, logical flow, confidence etc. in defending their Service papers. This came ahead of an interesting process that would begin by Monday 14th January 2019 at the Defence Headquarters in Banjul in front of a panel of promotional board members. The interface was climaxed with a series of questions and answers session between the aspiring officers readying for promotion and the Service Chiefs.
