The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Lieutenant General Masanneh N Kinteh; attended the 2019 Chief of Defence Staff Conference at the United Nations (UN) in New York from 10-11 July 2019.
The bi-annual conference brings together all the Chiefs of Defence Staffs of all the armed forces in the world to discuss security and defence issues as they relate to peacekeeping.
The CDS was accompanied by a high powered military delegation from the Defence Headquarters joined by the Gambian’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations, HE Lang Yarbou.
This year’s theme of the conference was “Generating capabilities to meet high-performance requirements” and included panels composed of eminent military personalities who discussed on the theme. They also discussed the need to increase the participation of women in UN Peacekeeping operations.
