TURKEY TO DOUBLE ITS SUPPORT TO THE GAMBIA ARMED FORCES

The Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia, His Excellency Ismail Yuceer on Thursday 3 May 2018 stated that his country would double the support it has been rendering to Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) in the area of training. He made this promise during the presentation of sixty different flags to GAF at the Defense Headquarters in Banjul where he was accompanied by the Regional Director of the Turkish Agency for International Cooperation (TIKA) Mr. Murad.

Ambassador Yuceer explained that his country through his embassy has a long-standing working relationship that he said will continue to be strong.

According to him, thousands of GAF officers were trained in Turkey while promising that his country would keep supporting GAF and the country at large in terms of logistics support and training.

In receiving the flags in his office at the Defence Headquarters in Banjul, the Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Masanneh Kinteh noted that the relationship between Turkey and The Gambia is based on mutual cooperation, saying that The Gambia continues to benefit from military and civil training from the government of Turkey.

The donated flags are for the three services namely the GNA, GN and RNG while there were also other for the GAFTS, the Gambia Legion and the GAF.
