GAF KICK-STARTS FIVE WEEKS CAPACITY BUILDING COURSE FOR THE MILITARY POLICE

The Deputy Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Yakuba A Drammeh on Monday 24 February 2020 opened a five-week training course for sixty (60) personnel of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Military Police Unit at the GAF Training School in Fajara. The training course is being conducted by officers of the Royal Military Police of Great Britain. The training which is in line with the reforms of the Armed Forces is aimed at building the capacity, professionalism as well as leadership skills of these personnel who are expected to enforce and maintain discipline in any military institution. The training also follows on the heels of the visit by His Royal Highness Prince Charles and the Honourable Minister of State responsible for the Armed Forces of the United Kingdom to The Gambia in 2018. It was during these high profile visits that the Ministry of Defence and the GAF requested for the conduct of several capacity building exercises and training courses for personnel of the GAF.
