Gambia Contingent in Darfur Lost a Comrade

The Gambia Armed Forces regrets to announce the untimely death of Lance Corporal Danso Bakary, a serving member of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF). The sad event took place on Sunday 15th July 2018 in Darfur, Sudan. 

The Lance Corporal was deployed to Darfur, Sudan with the Gambia Contingent called GAMCOY 21. The mission headquarters in El Fasher bade  farewell to the  Lance Corporal  on 16 July 2018.

Lance Corporal Danso Bakary joined the ranks of GAF on 9th May, 2009 as part of Intake 30. Upon completion of his Basic Military Training (BMT), he was posted to GAF Supply and Transport Unit. He was later attached to the then State Guard Battalion as Military Police Escort to the then Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia. The late Lance Corporal also served as a driver to Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Masanneh N Kinteh.

Meanwhile, administrative arrangements are being processed for the repatriation of the corpse back home for burial. He was married to Kaddy Trawalley and the union is blessed with four children.
