The Gambia Armed Forces on Tuesday 8 January 2019 began Peace Support Operation (PSO) training at the Gambia Armed Forces Training School for would be Gamcoy 22 to be deployed to Darfur, Sudan.
The training is traditionally part of the Chief of Defence Staff’s Training Directive on yearly basis. It is designed to provide adequate training for both officers and non-officers alike in the art of peace support operations. This helps to improve their ability in a bid to better prepare them for full participation in the multinational UN-AU Hybrid Mission in the trouble region of Darfur.
Owing to this nature of training, members of the Gambia Armed Forces continue to enjoy a high degree of standing amongst their contemporaries both in this mission and others before.
