The Gambia Armed Forces on Friday 14 June 2019 held a decoration ceremony for 42 officers at the state house. This milestone event followed suit after the promotion of other ranks in various battalions. The newly decorated officers went through vigorous process to be qualified for promotion. 
The President and Commander -in- Chief of the Armed Forces graced the decoration ceremony. During the ceremony, 6 officers were elevated from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel whilst 36 officers were elevated from the rank of Captain to Major.
