GAF DECORATES 19 PROMOTED JUNIOR OFFICERS

The Gambia Armed Forces on Tuesday 02 July 2019 conducted a decoration ceremony for 19 Junior Officers. 3 were decorated from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant and 16 from Lieutenant to Captain at the Joint Officers Mess (JOM) in Kotu. 

The milestone event followed suit after the decoration ceremony of Senior Officers of GAF last month at the State House. The occasion was graced by the Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General Masanneh N Kinteh, Deputy Permanent Secretary Minister of Defence (MOD), Commander Gambia National Army (GNA) and a cross-section of Senior Officers of GAF. Also present for the decoration ceremony were  family members of the decorated officers and members of the media fraternity. The ceremony took the form of changing of the respective ranks and taking  of oaths, among the 6 oaths taken by the promoted officer were the Oath of Office, Oath of Secrecy, Oath of Allegiance to the Commander-in-Chief and Oath of Allegiance to the People of the Gambia. 

During his  maiden remarks, the CDS stressed  that promotion in The Gambia Armed Forces is not business as usual. He emphasized that the promoted officers were subjected to an examination which they had successfully undergone. He tasked the newly promoted officers to uphold the principles of unconditional loyalty to the State and the Commander-in -Chief of GAF. The CDS whilst telling the Officers that to whom much is given, much is expected, concluded by praying  for God to grant the decorated officers wisdom to execute their duties.
